Cross Vs Djay Pro

Flanging is a type of phasing where two signals are introduced milliseconds apart, and then the two signals are mixed together. The delay time is varied, creating a whooshing or jet plane like effect. The DJ software lets you repeat certain effects or parts of a song as much as you want. Why does no one talk about Djay Pro? I use Djay Pro and frankly it's almost more stable than Serato. It supports El Capitan, it has all the features I need, I can see more advanced DJs needing to use Serato, but I can scratch, have a ton of effects, an easy beatgrid, manual controls, and a ton of control over input and output.

  • Well I have to say while Djay Pro is coming along nicely, it is still some way off the big names (Serato, Traktor, Rekordbox DJ and Cross).
So if you are interested in Serato and take a next step, I would advise to get it now as long as this discount lasts.

What do you think are the differences that make Serato so much better?

There isn’t really such a thing as better or worse as the choice is highly personal. What you can compare is the amount/quality of features for example. Things like track management are also different, in DJay Pro heavily relying on iTunes for example. With DJay Pro being a pretty recent addition to the DJ Software menu, it is understandable that it is a bit behind old hands like Traktor and Serato. As Terry_42 said they are catching up quickly though.

I totally agree, there is not a real BETTER here.
Currently it is simply the amount of features and the quality of some of the features (F/X for example) that make Serato the winner by points.
However if you do not need any of those features or even prefer a more simple setup, or the way the iTunes integration works in Djay then it might be for you.

I have tested Djay Pro extensively since the introduced the parallel waveforms and even played some small gigs (if you can say gig, it was basically a friends get together) with it. In a full on gig I still prefer Serato, but your mileage may vary.

Algoriddim has ported its popular djay Pro software from iOS to Windows 10 for the first time. djay Pro will still be developed on iOS and the Mac using the latest platform features like Touch Bar support for example, and today’s release expands Algoriddim’s reach from iOS/watchOS, macOS, and Android to Windows.

Algoriddim actually relied greatly on djay Pro for iOS to bring the professional DJ software to Windows…

Remember Microsoft’s Bridge tool for iOS that launched a few years ago — djay Pro for Windows largely relied on that for turning djay Pro for iOS into a working Windows app.

For an app as powerful and feature-packed as djay Pro, it’s a pretty stunning example of how developers can take a product for iOS and make it viable on another platform like Windows without starting from scratch.

djay Pro for Windows offers iTunes and Spotify integration as well (remember iTunes for Windows?) for finding music to mix. And like the touch-based djay Pro for iOS, djay Pro with Windows is optimized for touch control especially on the Microsoft Surface Studio with Surface Dial integration.

To take advantage of Algoriddim’s existing world-class technology for high-performance graphics, audio, and hardware integrations, djay Pro for Windows was built in collaboration with Microsoft using the Windows Bridge for iOS project. This enabled creating a truly cross-platform app that bridges desktop and touch devices, while at the same time feeling completely native on Windows 10. Its deep integration with the Windows platform delivers an immersive experience with low-latency audio, smooth graphics, and plug-and-play hardware support.

With it, you can create musical scores by stringing together audio loops, play and record virtual instruments, record “real” instruments plugged into your Mac, create iPhone ringtones, record and assemble podcasts, create movie soundtracks, and play and record your guitar through modeled amps and effects.Wonderful as the is, however, far too many people ignore it completely, or open it once to see what all the fuss is about and never do so again. They do this because GarageBand is perceived as a musician’s tool. With GarageBand for iPad, Apple is sending a different message: Yes, GarageBand is a tool for making music, but anyone—from musicians to tin-eared newbies—can use it. It underscores this message by eschewing the podcast, ringtone, and movie-soundtrack elements and focusing entirely on making it easy to compose music. How to make a speech jammer on garageband ipad. No talent required.

Algoriddim’s Surface Studio demo is a pretty good case for really big iPad Pros if not touchscreen iMacs:

Algoriddim’s new djay Pro for Windows is out now on the Windows Store for $49.99; you can also grab a free trial from Algoriddim’s website. Algoriddim’s existing djay Pro suite for Apple’s platforms is also available on the App Store and Mac App Store.
