Real Guitar Midi Patterns

The patterns mode is very similar to the chord mode, the chord recognition engine works the same way, but this time the triggers are not simple strums anymore, they are a set of patterns that you can loop, adapt to the tempo or the metrics, change the velocity in real time using a. I could be wrong, but as a guitarist, I don't think it's really possible to simulate the instrument well through MIDI. The closest I've heard is Guitar Pro 6's 'Realistic Sound Engine', and even it isn't nearly good enough to be used in actual music.

I got tired of having to look in the manuals to remember which CCs control the various RealGuitar and RealStrat VSTi parameters. For example, I could never remember that to set the capo at fret 5, I need to set CC 78 to the value 32.
So I made a library of MIDI files that I can drag/drop into Reaper. It is available here: https://stash.reaper.fm/7490/RealGuit..20Switches.tgz
You can put the files in your RealGuitar/RealStrat pattern directory, and drag/drop them into Reaper from the Pattern Manager. Or you can put them anywhere else you want, and use Reaper's Media Explorer to load them into a project. I chose a directory structure that makes sense to me, but you can rearrange the folders if you prefer to have the files arranged differently.
Here's an example: To turn on the Solo mode hammer-on effect and set the range to 3 semitones, load these two files into your RealGuitar/RealStrat MIDI track:

These files cover all the MIDI CC switches available in RealGuitar and RealStrat. I don't have RealLPC yet, but from looking at the documentation, I think the RealLPC switches are exactly the same as those for RealStrat.
For the switches that have lots of possible settings, I chose to make MIDI files for only a few discrete values, so as not to end up with an overwhelming number of files to choose from. The parameters affected by this are the volume sliders, frequency sliders, time sliders, velocity values, etc. The CC values I chose cover the full 0-127 range for the parameters, and they should get you to the approximate value you are after. For example, I used 1 dB steps for the volume sliders, and 0.5 Hz steps for the frequencies sliders -- if you want something in between those steps, load the file that is closest to the value you want, and then adjust the CC value in Reaper's MIDI editor to get the exact value you need.

An authentic sounding guitar part cannot be recorded by using samples on their own, but requires a bunch of guitar-specific techniques, which are simulated in RealGuitar. Whether you are playing live or programing a DAW, these techniques are controllable by using special gestures, key switches, key velocity, modulation wheel, sustain pedal, key aftertouch, MIDI CC, DAW parameter automation, and any combinations of these.
